Invitation for independent experts for call related to COVID-19 pandemic
The Bulgarian National Science Fund (BNSF) hereby invites applications from independent experts who could be invited for evaluation of research proposals of envisaged call related to COVID-19 pandemic. The call is intended to cover the following thematic areas:
Thematic area 1. Medico-biological problems
Topics:
• Biological and biomedical studies of SARS-CoV2, including the structure and organization of the virus, its mode of penetration into the body and cells, and mechanisms of intracellular transmission.
• Epidemiological and immunological studies related to the course of SARS-CoV2 infection.
• Development of therapies for the treatment of coronavirus infection and vaccines for the prevention of SARS-CoV2 infection, proven in in vivo models.
• Development of research models for virus monitoring in real conditions and new diagnostic tools for specific detection of SARS-CoV2.
• All areas of materials science that may influence research related to the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
• Environmental factors that affect the transmission and survival of SARS-CoV2 virus, demonstrated in in vivo models.
Thematic area 2. Social, economic and educational aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic
Topics:
• Development of effective mechanisms for prevention or reduction of epidemics of high-risk viral diseases with minimal consequences for society and the economy.
• Social, psychological, legal, cultural, educational, ethical and other aspects of the measures introduced in different countries in order to limit the spread of the virus.
• Measures to restore the economy and overcome the social and financial consequences of the pandemic and the restrictions imposed in connection with it.
According to the Regulations of the BNSF, independent experts shall be chosen on the basis of scientific expertise and experience, provided in the information form supplemented by a list of publications and a short CV. By submitting their filled and signed information form, independent experts agree to be included in the reviewers database of the Fund and to be selected as reviewers of proposals for the call. The personal data collected in the context of the present call will be processed in accordance with the regulations on the protection of personal data. The information in the database will be available for the Executive council, the scientific committees and the staff of BNSF. The reviewers will receive remuneration depending on the call and the number of reviewed proposals (240 BGN = 122.74 EUR per proposal).
